Eva Libertad's 'Sorda,' a Catalan production, clinched the Golden Biznaga for Best Spanish Film at the 28th Málaga Film Festival, announced on March 10, 2024. The film also secured awards for Best Actor (Álvaro Cervantes), Best Actress (Miriam Garlo), and the Audience Award. Other Catalan films also shone, with 'Los Tortuga' winning three awards, including Best Director and Best Screenplay for Belén Funes, and 'La Furia' earning accolades for Best Supporting Actor (Álex Monner) and Best Actress (Ángela Cervantes). The Ibero-American Golden Biznaga went to 'El ladrón de perros' by Vinko Tomicic. Catalan cinema has a strong presence at the Málaga Film Festival, with 57 Catalan titles participating this year and Catalan productions claiming 11 of the last 14 Golden Biznaga awards.
