Netflix will invest $1 billion in film and series production in Mexico between 2025 and 2028, co-CEO Ted Sarandos announced on February 20th. This significant investment aims to boost the Mexican audiovisual industry, creating jobs and opportunities nationwide. The announcement was made alongside Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

The investment will also include $2 million to upgrade Churubusco Studios, a key location for Mexican cinema. Netflix's commitment extends to developing diverse creative talent behind the camera through the Netflix Fund For Creative Equity in Mexico, launched last year with $1 million.

Mexico has been a vital hub for Netflix, producing successful series like "Club De Cuervos" and backing Oscar-winning films like "Roma" and "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio." The recent adaptation of "Pedro Páramo" alone contributed significantly to Mexico's GDP and boosted book sales. This investment reaffirms Netflix's dedication to Mexico's vibrant film industry.
