Schiaparelli's haute couture show: a fusion of past and future

Edited by: Екатерина С.

On July 7, 2025, Paris Haute Couture Week commenced with Schiaparelli's "Back to the Future" show, showcasing the Autumn/Winter 2025-26 collection. The event, held at the Petit Palais, attracted celebrities such as Cardi B, Karol G, Dua Lipa, and Hunter Schafer. The show was a glamorous affair.

Creative Director Daniel Roseberry's collection paid homage to Elsa Schiaparelli's surrealist legacy. It featured a monochrome palette and a cinematic atmosphere. Roseberry reinterpreted archival elements with artisanal techniques, creating garments that blended sculpture and ethereal qualities.

A notable aspect of the collection was the absence of traditional corsets, replaced by more fluid and elastic silhouettes. This choice reflected a modern and liberated view of the body. The collection included the "Elsa" jacket with sculpted shoulders and the "Apollo" cape transformed into a cascade of black diamanté, gunmetal, and silver bijoux.

The "Squiggles and Wiggles" tulle dress was adorned with 3D shell-shaped embroidery, and the "Eyes Wide Open" embroidery decorated a dress with a hand-painted iris. The show took place at the Petit Palais, currently hosting an exhibition on Charles Worth, symbolically linking couture's origins to its evolving future.

Schiaparelli's collection emphasized that fashion can be a political act, a song, and a vision. Daniel Roseberry highlighted that couture is where fashion is not just clothing but thought. The collection, with its sharp grace, suggests a future built on the remnants of the past.
