Pierpaolo Piccioli has been named the new creative director of Balenciaga. He will assume the role on July 10, succeeding Demna Gvasalia, who held the position for ten years. Gvasalia will be transitioning to Gucci.
Piccioli expressed his gratitude to his predecessors, including Cristóbal Balenciaga, Demna Gvasalia, Nicolas Ghesquière, and Alexander Wang. He acknowledged Demna's talent and vision, stating he couldn't have asked for a better handover.
Francesca Bellettini, Deputy CEO of Kering, praised Piccioli as one of today's most talented and celebrated designers. Gianfranco Gianangeli, CEO of Balenciaga, expressed enthusiasm for starting a new era with Piccioli, confident in his ability to interpret Cristóbal Balenciaga's legacy.
