The Shopkeeper: A Fusion of Cultures in Fashion and Design Opens in Norwich

A new lifestyle store, The Shopkeeper, has opened its doors in Norwich, inspired by the aesthetics and curation found in Japan. Previously located in Great Dunmow, Essex, the store's owner, Ian Johnstone, has transitioned to Norwich, aiming to enrich the local independent retail scene.

Johnstone, who has a background in fashion buying for renowned brands like Paul Smith and Diesel, was motivated to launch this venture following a transformative trip to East Asia. He sought to bring unique and well-curated items to the UK market, showcasing a diverse selection of clothing, stationery, and homeware sourced globally.

The store features distinctive products such as a French chore jacket, a Japanese brass pen, a classic pen-knife, and stoneware pottery, all of which reflect Johnstone's commitment to quality and originality. His vision is to create an inviting space that resonates with the community and complements existing independent businesses in the area.

Located in Upper St Giles Street, The Shopkeeper aims to attract a variety of customers, reflecting Norwich's vibrant blend of creativity and independent spirit. The store operates from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm, welcoming all who appreciate curated lifestyle products.
