The Helsinki Biennial 2025 is set to transform the Finnish capital into a vibrant hub for contemporary art and nature enthusiasts. The third edition of this major art event will take place from June 8 to September 21, 2025, across multiple locations including Vallisaari Island, Esplanade Park, and the HAM Helsinki Art Museum.

This year's theme, "Shelter: Below and Beyond, Becoming and Belonging," will be explored through the works of 37 artists and collectives from 30 different cultures. The biennial will feature 57 works and ensembles, with approximately half premiering in Helsinki. The event includes 13 commissioned works, offering a diverse range of art forms such as mixed-media installations and sound sculptures.

The biennial's curators, Blanca de la Torre and Kati Kivinen, drew inspiration from the protected Vallisaari Island. The artworks will explore interspecies connections and sensory experiences. The event aims to make high-quality international and Finnish contemporary art accessible to all, with free admission days offered at various locations.
