From July 5 to October 12, 2025, the Sanctuary of San Damiano in Assisi will host the exhibition "Gino Covili – The Cry of the Creatures." This exhibition commemorates the 800th anniversary of St. Francis's "Canticle of the Creatures," offering a unique perspective on the work through the artistic interpretations of Gino Covili.
The inauguration took place on July 5, 2025, at 4:30 PM in the Sala del Cantico, with the participation of Fr. Mauro Botti, Vladimiro Covili, Federico Sciurpa, and P. Saul Tambini. The exhibition features nine works from Gino Covili's "Francesco" pictorial cycle, including scenes from the "Canticle of the Creatures," "The Sermon to the Birds," and "The Last Farewell."
These works offer a visual reading that intimately connects with Franciscan values, conveying messages of faith, hope, and harmony. The cultural project is a collaboration between the Covili family and the Friars Minor of San Damiano. Scientific consultation and text editing were curated by Fr. Saul Tambini and Dr. Donatella Vaccari.
The exhibition is open daily with free admission, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This exhibition provides a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the universal message of the "Canticle of the Creatures," reflecting on the link between humanity, nature, and the divine, through the artist's perspective and the spirituality of the Poverello of Assisi.
