The Delta Blues Museum is participating in the Blue Star Museum program in 2025, offering free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families from Armed Forces Day, May 17th, through Labor Day, September 1st. Up to five family members can benefit from this offer with a valid military ID.
Museum Director Shelley Ritter welcomes military families this summer, highlighting the importance of the Blue Star partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, which honors those who serve the country.
The museum is also unveiling a new exhibit, "Margaret's Blue Diamond Lounge," focusing on the New World District juke joint in downtown Clarksdale and its legendary house band led by Arthneice "Gas Man" Jones. The opening reception is free to the public and will be held on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, from 5 - 7 PM at the Museum. Following the reception, Ground Zero Blues Club will host The Stone Gas Band; the cover charge is $10 per person.
Founded in 1979, the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, Mississippi, is the state's first museum dedicated to music, celebrating the legacy of the Blues and offering visitors a chance to explore its deep roots and cultural impact.
