Cartagena de Indias is celebrating its 492nd anniversary throughout May and June 2025, showcasing local talent and pride. Under the slogan “492 artists celebrate the 492 years of Cartagena,” the city has organized a vibrant agenda filled with art, music, and historical commemorations across its neighborhoods.
The festivities include the launch of the Salón de Arte Novembrino, a platform for local visual artists. Contests like “Viviendo la Cartageneidad” for educational institutions and “Mi Barrio es mi Orgullo,” which highlights community cultural identity, are also featured. The first Encuentro Nacional de Acuarelistas de Colombia, organized by the International Watercolor Society - Iws Colombia, will take place from May 28th to June 2nd, 2025.
A gastronomy and crafts fair called "Espacio para todos" adds to the celebration. Candidates for the Reinado Popular de las Fiestas de Independencia will be recognized on June 1st, marking a first in the event's history. The city encourages active participation in all anniversary events.
