Edited by: Irena I

The Venice Biennale 2025, scheduled from late May to October, promises a unique international spectacle encompassing theatre, dance, and music. The 53rd International Theatre Festival, curated by Willem Dafoe, will explore the physical presence of the actor under the theme "Theatre is Body - Body is Poetry," paying homage to the 1975 Biennale Teatro. The 19th International Contemporary Dance Festival, directed by Wayne McGregor, will delve into "Myth Makers/Creators of Myths," featuring over 160 artists and numerous world premieres. The 69th International Contemporary Music Festival, led by Caterina Barbieri, will explore "La stella dentro" (The star within), focusing on cosmic music and its ability to create new worlds. Highlights include a musical water procession by Chuquimamani-Condori, a reimagining of William Basinski's tape loops, and a site-specific work by Yosuke Fujita exploring sound and water. The festival will also feature pioneers of electronic music such as Laurie Spiegel and Suzanne Ciani, alongside contemporary artists pushing the boundaries of music and performance.
