Pakistani architect Yasmeen Lari has received the Millennium Bcp Career Award 2025 from the Lisbon Architecture Triennale. The award acknowledges Lari's 60-year commitment to social justice, environmental sustainability, and inclusive development through architecture.
Lari, Pakistan's first female architect, transitioned to humanitarian architecture following the 2005 earthquake. Her community-focused reconstruction efforts gained global recognition after the 2022 floods in Pakistan. She has pledged to facilitate the construction of over a million homes based on her "four zeros" principle: zero carbon, zero waste, zero donors, and zero poverty.
Lari promotes local community empowerment through participatory design and knowledge sharing. She will be presented with the Career Award trophy, designed by Álvaro Siza, at the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, which will take place from October 2 to December 8, 2025. The opening days, featuring a public conference, are scheduled for October 2-4.
