Indonesia at Expo 2025 Osaka: Maritime Pavilion Showcasing Sustainable Future

Edited by: Ek Soshnikova

Indonesia is participating in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, with a pavilion themed 'Thriving in Harmony - Nature, Culture, Future.' This theme reflects the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, emphasizing the balance between humanity, nature, and spirituality. The Expo will take place from April 13 to October 13, 2025. The Indonesian Pavilion's design is inspired by Indonesia's maritime history, resembling a grand ship that symbolizes the country's journey toward a sustainable future. The pavilion aims to showcase a blend of tradition and modern technology, featuring immersive exhibits that visualize Indonesia Emas 2045, the nation's vision for a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future by the centennial of its independence. The pavilion is constructed using eco-friendly materials, including Plana wood, a composite made from rice husks and recycled plastic. This aligns with Indonesia's commitment to minimizing environmental impact and promoting sustainable development. The design also maximizes natural lighting. Indonesia aims to attract visitors and foster global cooperation and investment opportunities that benefit both the economy and the environment. The Indonesian Pavilion covers an area of 1,750 square meters and will showcase the country's diverse culture and achievements in sustainable development goals (SDGs).
