Constanța Casino Reopens After €40 Million Restoration, Reviving a Landmark of Romania

The Constanța Casino, a symbol of the Romanian city since 1910, has reopened after extensive restoration work costing €40 million. Mayor Vergil Chițac announced the completion of the project, which involved reinforcing the foundation, restoring facades and decorations, and meticulously repairing unique elements like stained glass and mosaics. Metal components were also restored to their original splendor, preserving the building's authenticity. The restoration, financed by the state budget and implemented by the National Investment Company, comes four decades after the last repairs in the 1980s, during which many architectural details were lost. The casino also underwent rehabilitation in the 1950s under the communist regime. The reopening marks a significant milestone in preserving Romania's architectural heritage and offers a renewed landmark for the city and its visitors.
