Turkey's 'Yerebasan' Project to Explore Earth's Role in Architecture at Venice Biennale 2025

Edited by: Ek Soshnikova

Turkey's pavilion at the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2025 will feature "Yerebasan," an interactive exhibition exploring the relationship between humans, architecture, and the earth. Curated by Erdem and Kalfa, the project invites visitors to perceive soil not merely as a surface or resource, but as an integral part of the living environment. The exhibition encourages a re-evaluation of our place within this dynamic exchange, prompting consideration of building practices that are sensitive to and interact with the environment. "Yerebasan" aims to propose forms of living and construction that listen to and interact with the environment, rather than imposing upon it. Opening on May 10th and running until November 23rd, the Biennale, titled "Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.", will be held at Giardini, Arsenale, and various venues across Venice. The Turkey Pavilion, coordinated by IKSV with contributions from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be located in the Arsenale.
