X1.2 Solar Flare Erupts in Region of Maximum Impact on Earth

Edited by: Uliana S.

On Wednesday, June 18th, the Sun unleashed a powerful solar flare. The event was observed by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory, with the flare occurring around 4:49 AM WIB.

The flare was classified as an X1.2 flare, indicating a significant release of electromagnetic radiation and high-energy particles. These powerful events can cause various disruptions.

Solar flares are categorized into five classes: A, B, C, M, and X, with A being the weakest and X the most potent. X-class flares pose the greatest risk, potentially disrupting technology in space and impacting astronauts.

NASA stated that solar flares and solar eruptions can affect radio communications, power grids, navigation signals, and pose risks to spacecraft and astronauts. NASA continues to monitor the flare with its advanced technology.
