An international team led by Bulgarian astronomer Atanas Stefanov has discovered a new planet, designated GJ 3998 d. Stefanov, a doctor at the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands and lead author of the study, announced the discovery on March 11. The planet has been registered in the NASA database and is part of the HADES international program, which aims to study planetary systems around red dwarfs using the TNG telescope at the La Palma Observatory. This super-Earth, more massive than Earth, orbits its star in just 41.8 days. The planet receives about 20% more energy from its star than Earth does from the Sun, suggesting a potentially higher temperature than Earth.
