NASA's Perseverance rover discovered a rock, named Silver Mountain, in the Blue Hill region of Mars. Scientists believe this rock, the 26th sample collected, dates back to the Noachian era, over 4.1 to 3.7 billion years ago. Analysis of Silver Mountain could provide insights into the early solar system and the conditions on Mars and Earth during their infancy.
The rock's textures are unlike any previously observed, and it has been sealed for future analysis on Earth.
