Maximum solar activity in the current cycle is anticipated in the summer of 2025, according to Sergey Bogachev, head of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory at the Institute of Space Research in Russia.
"The year 2025 is considered the most likely year for the peak of solar activity based on model calculations. Although there are various scenarios, most indicate spring or summer as the time for the maximum," Bogachev noted.
He emphasized that 2024 has already been marked by high solar activity, with August recording the highest number of sunspots, and the most powerful solar flares occurring in May and October. The expert added that solar activity is likely to increase again in the near future.
The Sun, classified as a star within our galaxy (the Milky Way), is the only star in the Solar System.
