An Indian clean energy startup, Hylenr Technologies, is partnering with TakeMe2Space to test a "cold fusion" reactor for powering satellites. Despite skepticism from the scientific community regarding the viability of cold fusion, Hylenr claims its Low Energy Nuclear Reactor (LENR) can generate energy without radiation. The company received a patent from the Indian government in 2024. During a demonstration, the reactor reportedly produced 1.5 times more heat than the electrical energy it consumed, and Hylenr aims to increase this to 2.5 times. The test, involving a small thermoelectric generator on a satellite, seeks to validate the technology in space. TakeMe2Space, developing an AI satellite network, hopes the system can aid in heat management and energy reuse. Hylenr envisions applications beyond space, including steam generation and heating for homes and industries. The concept of cold fusion, first proposed in 1989, remains controversial due to a lack of consistent scientific validation.
