Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal advocated for the adoption of naturopathy and yoga by the youth to combat modern lifestyle diseases. He emphasized this during the valedictory program of the 3rd International Conference on Yoga and Naturopathy at SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences in Ujire, Dakshina Kannada, which concluded on May 16, 2025. The five-day conference was organized by the college in collaboration with the Indian Naturopathy and Yoga Graduate Medical Association and the Ministry of Ayush.
Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade highlighted the body's innate healing capabilities, noting that humans have lost the instinct to heal naturally. He stressed that disciplined habits like fasting, balanced diets, and regular sleep could restore the body's natural healing capacity. He added that true healing starts with self-awareness and harmony with nature.
Karnataka Speaker U.T. Khadar described naturopathy as a valuable gift from India's traditions, suggesting that many ailments could be cured without medicine by following nature-based practices. He urged daily yoga practice and exploration of alternative medicines rooted in India's biodiversity. The conference saw participation from 300 delegates and over 10,000 students, featuring research presentations and cultural activities.
