Archaeological Find in China Reveals Civilization of "Giants" from 5,000 Years Ago

In Shandong province, China, archaeologists discovered skeletal remains indicating a civilization of "giants" existed approximately 5,000 years ago. These individuals, part of the Longshan culture (circa 3000-1900 BC), were significantly taller than modern Chinese people. Fossil evidence suggests an average height of 1.90 meters (6 feet 3 inches), compared to the current average of 1.65 meters (5 feet 5 inches). A representative from the Center for History and Culture Studies at Shandong University suggested that genetic factors and a favorable diet contributed to the unusual height of these individuals. The Longshan culture is known for its sophisticated craftsmanship, particularly its black polished pottery made with potter's wheels, indicating advanced technical skills for the time.
