Edited by: Uliana S.

On June 26, 2025, a brilliant fireball was observed across the Southeastern United States, prompting numerous reports from Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

The American Meteor Society received over 100 reports between 12:15 and 12:30 p.m. ET, with witnesses describing the event as sudden and unexpected.

While the National Weather Service investigated reports of seismic activity, the U.S. Geological Survey found no evidence of an earthquake. Satellite imagery detected a possible smoke trail.

The event occurred during the June Bootid Meteor Shower, which peaked on June 27, 2025. Authorities are currently investigating the cause and potential impact of the fireball.
