Halo and Corona Light up the Moon over Dessau

Edited by: gaya ❤️ one

On Monday evening, the Moon appeared surrounded by a bright, colorful disk over Dessau, Germany.

This rare phenomenon was a combination of a halo and a corona, both atmospheric optical effects.

Halos are formed by the refraction of light through ice crystals in cirrus clouds, while coronas result from the scattering of light by water droplets.
