Big Bounce Theory: An Eternal Cycle of Cosmic Creation and Destruction

Edited by: Uliana S. Аj

The Big Bounce theory suggests the Big Bang was not the universe's absolute beginning but part of a cyclical cosmic process of expansion and contraction. This model proposes a pre-existing universe collapsed, leading to a 'bounce' that initiated the current expansion. It posits that our universe might eventually collapse, giving rise to another. This theory relies on the idea of space-time consisting of quantum units, potentially resolving the Big Bang's initial singularity problem. Loop quantum gravity suggests that under extreme conditions, gravity becomes repulsive, preventing singularity and allowing the universe to 'bounce.' Unlike cyclic models facing energy loss, loop quantum gravity suggests energy conservation, enabling infinite bounces. Traces of a previous universe might be detectable in the cosmic microwave background. If correct, the Big Bounce challenges the Big Bang model, suggesting an infinite cycle of universes.
