Development of Long March-9 Rocket Aimed at Space Solar Power Stations

On January 20, 2025, researchers announced advancements in the Long March-9 (CZ-9) rocket, designed to facilitate the construction of solar power stations in space. Unlike terrestrial solar installations, space-based systems can harness sunlight with ten times the intensity due to the absence of atmospheric interference.

However, the challenge remains in transporting the necessary materials to orbit. The Long March-9 aims to address this issue with a heavy-lift capacity of at least 150 tons, significantly enhancing payload delivery capabilities for future space energy projects.
