Earthquake Aftershocks Continue in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil

Following an earthquake in Sonora, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, on Tuesday, at least 16 aftershocks have been recorded. The aftershocks, registered by the Brazilian Seismographic Network (RSBR), are common after a primary seismic event.

These secondary tremors ranged in magnitude from 1.0 to 2.1. The most recent aftershock was recorded at 9:20 AM on Tuesday.

Mato Grosso do Sul has experienced nine seismic events in 2024, ranging from 1.6 to 3.5 in magnitude. The main earthquake occurred 100 kilometers from Sonora.
