Denmark is experiencing severe drought conditions due to a persistent omega blocking pattern in the atmosphere. Rainfall since March 1st has only reached 46% of the normal amount.
The most affected regions are South Zealand, Lolland-Falster, and Bornholm. This weather pattern is diverting rain systems north and south of Denmark, leading to dry conditions.
The last time Denmark experienced such a dry spring was in 2018, which was followed by a dry and hot summer. The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) will release a new monthly forecast tomorrow to assess the long-term prospects for rainfall.
