Mexico Battles 106 Active Forest Fires

As of Monday morning, 106 active forest fires are reported across Mexico. Three of these fires are located in the Tepoztlán Complex.

The Secretariat of Sustainable Development of Morelos identifies Las Tirolesas, Kilometer 63, and Llano de Morelos as the most significant fires in the state. A brigade from Quintana Roo will join the firefighting efforts.

Fire Details

The Kilometer 63 fire is 100% controlled and 95% liquidated, affecting 35 hectares. The Llano de Morelos fire, an interstate incident, impacts Tlalnepantla in Morelos and Milpa Alta in Mexico City. It is 100% controlled, 60% liquidated, and has affected 18.85 hectares.

A fire southeast of the Chichinautzin volcano in Mexico City has spread to Morelos.
