Numerous tornadoes and severe storms struck states across the Southern and Midwestern United States on April 2, causing widespread damage to homes, power outages, and flash flooding. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued multiple tornado warnings and watches, affecting over 13 million people. States including Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas declared tornado emergencies. The NWS warned of the potential for strong winds, large hail, and significant flash flooding through the weekend, with some areas expecting over 30 cm of rainfall.
