A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday, with the epicenter located 30 miles east of Monywa. The quake, at a shallow depth, caused buildings to collapse in Mandalay and damaged religious shrines in Naypyidaw.

A 30-story building under construction in Bangkok collapsed following the tremor, prompting emergency response efforts. The earthquake was felt in Thailand, Vietnam, China, and India, causing panic and evacuations in Bangkok. A second quake, with a magnitude of 6.4, shook the area 12 minutes later. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
