A 1,200-acre wildfire in Horry County, South Carolina, has prompted multiple evacuation orders as of Sunday, March 3, 2024. More than 400 personnel are working to contain the blaze. Two active fires are listed on the South Carolina Forestry Commission's website: the 1,200-acre fire in Covington Drive and a 300-acre fire in Blackthorn Drive, both at 0% containment. A statewide burn ban is in place, with warnings of potential jail time for starting outdoor fires. Over 100 wildfires ignited in the state on Saturday due to dry and windy conditions.
