Heavy Rain Alerts in Fiji - Oct 16, 2024

Weather forecasters at the Fiji Meteorological Service Office in Nadi have issued heavy rain warnings for various regions of the Fiji group this week. A trough of low pressure is expected to primarily impact the eastern parts of the country.

Areas including Navua, Suva, and Nausori are at risk of flash flooding due to anticipated heavy rainfall. The forecast for Thursday indicates occasional rain, which may be heavy at times, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms.

Flash flooding is also a concern for low-lying areas in Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. Additionally, localized heavy rainfall may lead to flooding in Labasa, where occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to persist until Friday.
