Edited by: Uliana S.

On July 2, 2025, Ed and Melinda Pardy of Rich Valley, Alberta, recorded a rare atmospheric event: ball lightning. The glowing orb, estimated at one to two meters in diameter, hovered approximately seven meters above the ground.

The sphere drifted silently across their field before disappearing with a faint "pop." The Pardys' video, spanning 23 seconds, has garnered attention from researchers.

Storm chaser George Kourounis called it "one of the best ball lightning videos I've ever seen." The footage is being studied by the University of Calgary and has drawn interest from a UFO investigation program.
