Edited by: Aurelia One

The eighth edition of the Sea Forum is currently taking place in El Jadida, Morocco, from May 8th to May 11th, focusing on critical issues related to ocean protection and marine biodiversity. This year's theme, 'The Sea, Future of the Earth,' emphasizes the importance of sustainable development and encourages a reevaluation of our relationship with the ocean.

The forum gathers experts, researchers, artists, and representatives from various institutions, NGOs, and businesses to facilitate discussions and collaborations. France is the guest of honor, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in enhancing ocean and coastal management.

Key Topics and Activities

The Sea Forum 2025 features a diverse program including conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and film screenings. Discussions revolve around six main themes: Nurturing and healing, Preserving, Trading, Dialogue, Advocacy, and Exploiting and innovating. These activities aim to integrate marine issues into public policies for a sustainable future.

The forum also addresses the need for an inclusive blue economy that values marine resources sustainably. Emphasis is placed on protecting coastal ecosystems from climate change, pollution, and overfishing, advocating for integrated and responsible management of maritime heritage.

Morocco has established eight Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) along its Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts. This initiative aims to protect 10% of Morocco's maritime surface by 2030.
