Portugal Invests €12M in Ocean Basin to Advance Marine Technology

Portugal is investing €12 million in a new Ocean Basin located in Leixões, near Porto. The project is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). This facility will support the advancement and testing of marine equipment.

The Ocean Basin aims to foster innovation in offshore energy and deep-sea robotics. It also seeks to attract research teams and boost education in marine technologies. The facility is expected to be operational within 21 months.

This project is a key component of the Hub Azul Portugal initiative. The initiative aims to drive the digital transformation of the blue economy, enhancing its competitiveness and sustainability.
