The UK has released its National Biodiversity Strategy & Action Plan (NBSAP) during the resumed session of the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) in Rome. This plan outlines the UK's commitment to achieving all 23 targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). The NBSAP, a collaborative effort by Defra, the Scottish Government, the Welsh Government, and Northern Ireland's Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, details how the UK will expand protected areas to at least 30% of its land and seas, reduce pollution harmful to biodiversity, enhance sustainability in agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries, and forestry, and ensure sustainable harvesting and trade of wild species. The UK aims to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030, contributing to a global vision of living in harmony with nature by 2050. The UK will also support other countries to deliver the National Biodiversity Strategy.
