Satorisan, a high-quality footwear brand, has partnered with Spanish explorer Gotzon Mantuliz to support the conservation of the endangered red panda in the Himalayas.
Their expedition took place in Singalila National Park, India, a biodiversity hotspot near Kanchenjunga, also known as "Sleeping Buddha". The park is home to diverse flora, including bamboo forests, oaks, magnolias, and flowering rhododendrons, alongside rare fauna.
The collaboration resulted in an international awareness campaign, including a documentary highlighting the importance of red panda conservation and Himalayan ecosystems. The initiative underscores Satorisan's commitment to biodiversity protection and promoting a harmonious relationship between humans and nature.
The park is also the focus of conservation efforts, including a red panda census planned for 2025, delayed from 2024 due to logistical and weather challenges. The census will utilize direct observation, genetic analysis of fecal samples, and footprint monitoring.
This partnership exemplifies how private sector and individual efforts can contribute to the conservation of endangered species and protect natural habitats. Protecting the red panda is crucial for safeguarding entire ecosystems vital to the planet's health.
