In Spring 2025, Sagunto's environmental volunteer program, La Colla Verda, implemented various initiatives to enhance urban biodiversity. These efforts included the installation of insect hotels and nesting boxes across the city.

In April, an insect hotel was installed in the gardens of Puerto de Sagunto to provide refuge for beneficial species like ladybugs and solitary bees. This initiative supports pest control and pollination efforts.

In May, the Colla Verda organized the installation of nesting boxes for insectivorous birds in the Hospital de Sagunto park. The boxes are designed to attract species like the great tit, aiding in the control of pests such as the pine processionary caterpillar.

In June, another insect hotel was constructed and placed in Plaza Maestra Amelia Dolz, on Almardà beach. These actions are part of the urban ecology campaign of La Colla Verda, which seeks to publicize and conserve the auxiliary fauna in the green spaces of Sagunto.

The Colla Verda also conducted activities during the winter, including planting native flora in the coastal zone of the Marjal dels Moros. Further activities are planned for the Sagunto Castle mountain, with native vegetation plantings scheduled for February and March 2025.
