Michoacan, Mexico Launches Reforestation Campaign to Plant 10 Million Trees

Edited by: Anulyazolotko Anulyazolotko

In June 2025, the state of Michoacan, Mexico, initiated the "Sembremos el Futuro" reforestation campaign. The ambitious project aims to plant 10 million trees across 14,000 hectares of land.

The initiative addresses deforestation caused by logging, monoculture conversion, agro-industrial activities, and urban expansion. Innovative techniques, including drones and airplanes, will be used to disperse pine seeds in hard-to-reach areas.

A significant portion of the trees, two million, will be dedicated to the Pátzcuaro Lake basin. This effort seeks to combat global warming, improve air quality, and preserve the region's biodiversity.
