Bordeaux School Plants Mini-Forest Inspired by Miyawaki Method to Boost Biodiversity

Edited by: Anulyazolotko Anulyazolotko

In Bordeaux, France, students at the Alfred-Daney school have planted a mini-forest using the Miyawaki method, a technique developed by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki.

The initiative, inaugurated on June 26, 2025, aims to create a dense forest ecosystem on a small area, promoting rapid growth of various tree species. The project involves planting three trees per square meter, including maples, birches, and other deciduous trees.

This urban forest seeks to increase animal species, diversify flora, and reduce pollution, with students taking on the role of guardians.
