Livorno, Italy, continues its commitment to urban greening with the expansion of green space in the Coteto district in 2025. This initiative saw the planting of 1,000 new trees and shrubs, supported by Edison Energia in collaboration with the Municipal Administration.
This project is part of the Mosaico Verde national campaign, which focuses on urban and suburban afforestation and environmental regeneration. The newly expanded area, covering approximately 10,000 square meters, is strategically located between a residential area and an industrial zone, near railway tracks.
The project aims to enhance the quality of life for residents by improving air quality, reducing noise pollution, and mitigating the effects of summer heat. The selection of plant species, including holm oak and cork oak, is intended to create a thriving habitat for local fauna and increase biodiversity. A monitoring system will also be implemented to track the impact on pollinators.
