The 'Alicante Renace' project, dedicated to restoring natural spaces in Alicante, Spain, is gaining momentum with the support of the Conselleria de Medio Ambiente, Infraestructuras y Territorio. A recent ecological restoration event at Monte Orgegia saw 1,700 volunteers reforesting 10,000 square meters with native flora, including pine, almond, carob, and olive trees, alongside shrubs like rosemary and thyme. The Generalitat contributed 2,000 plants and essential tools for the effort. The project emphasizes ecological restoration and environmental awareness, aiming to reverse land degradation and foster community engagement in sustainability. The restoration will be sustained through a drip irrigation system using recycled water. The Monte Orgegia is a key natural space for climate regulation and biodiversity, and 'Alicante Renace' is helping it regain its vitality.
