Aker BioMarine has launched the Krill Science Hub, a digital platform dedicated to Antarctic krill and ecosystem research.
The platform centralizes peer-reviewed studies from 2005 to 2025, covering krill biomass dynamics, ecosystem interactions, and the environmental impacts of harvesting.
It currently features 50 peer-reviewed articles, each with expert summaries to enhance accessibility.
The platform aims to make complex research understandable to non-specialists and welcomes input from the global scientific community.
Pål Skogrand, VP of Policy and Impact at Aker BioMarine, stated that the hub addresses the fragmented access to research on krill and the broader ecosystem.
This initiative comes amid growing concerns over the sustainability of krill fishing practices, highlighting its impact on marine life and potential contributions to climate change.
The Krill Science Hub aims to inform and guide sustainable practices in the krill industry.
By centralizing Antarctic research, the hub benefits both the scientific community and public discourse.
