Mercedes Martín, a well-known meteorologist from Antena 3 in Spain, is set to embark on an expedition to Antarctica on January 28. She will travel from Ushuaia, Argentina, aboard the Homeward Bound ship, joining 115 women from 22 nationalities. These women are scientists in STEMM fields (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine) with a dual mission: to promote female leadership in science and technology and to raise awareness about global warming.
The expedition will combine science, learning, and collaboration, with time spent on the ship participating in workshops on sustainability and leadership. Participants will also have opportunities to explore the Antarctic Peninsula and visit scientific stations, all while studying some of the planet's most fragile ecosystems.
