In a shocking revelation, Shaktisinh Gohil, State Congress president and Rajya Sabha member, has called for a CBI investigation into the deaths of two patients who underwent unnecessary angioplasty procedures at Khyati Hospital in Ahmedabad. During a session in the Rajya Sabha, Gohil alleged that the hospital exploited poor, unsuspecting individuals to claim funds under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).
Gohil stated that the hospital conducted angiographies and angioplasties on patients who were healthy, leading to the tragic deaths. He accused local authorities of colluding in this fraudulent scheme, emphasizing that no compensation could suffice for such a grave crime. He insisted that only a CBI inquiry under an independent judicial mandate could uncover the truth.
According to a press release from Gujarat Congress, Gohil described the situation as a conspiracy to extract money from the PM-JAY while jeopardizing the lives of the poor. An investigation committee formed by the state government corroborated his claims, prompting Gohil to advocate for a CBI investigation to prevent similar conspiracies in the future.
The hospital allegedly devised a scheme involving medical camps in rural areas, performing unnecessary angioplasties on patients at their Ahmedabad facility. Gohil's demands highlight the urgent need for accountability in healthcare practices to safeguard vulnerable populations.
