Dolphin Sightings and Species

Agustín Baraschi, from Atlántico Avistajes, continues to capture stunning drone footage of these dolphins. The dolphins are often active in areas known for good surfing conditions.

During this serene period, dolphins venture closer to the shore, providing captivating displays of natural beauty as they leap and play.

Three dolphin species are commonly seen: bottlenose, common, and dusky dolphins. The bottlenose dolphin, often featured in videos, is the largest and a resident of the area, identified since 2008 through photo identification of their dorsal fins.

Common dolphins are frequently observed in groups of 15 to 30 during boat tours, known for their sociable behavior and interactions with boats, creating memorable experiences for wildlife enthusiasts.

Whale Sightings and Tours

Whales are also beginning to arrive in the gulf. Sightings have been reported near Playas Coloradas and Playas Doradas. Atlántico Avistajes and Cota Cero offer year-round boat tours for dolphin and whale watching.

A visit to Las Grutas offers more than just sun and beaches; it presents a unique opportunity to witness wild marine life, enhancing the landscape's beauty with the presence of these magnificent creatures.
