New Book 'Becoming Wild' Encourages Young Readers to Value Nature and Biodiversity

Edited by: Olga N

A new book titled 'Asilvestrarse. Volver a lo salvaje' ('Becoming Wild. Return to the Wild') aims to inspire young readers to appreciate nature and understand the importance of biodiversity. The book is written by Cristian Moyano, a CSIC researcher, and illustrated by Irene Cuesta.

Published by CSIC and Zahorí Books as part of the 'Mentes Curiosas, Curiosas Mentes' ('Curious Minds') collection, the book encourages readers to value the life forms around them, including animals and plants in their everyday environments. It emphasizes the importance of our relationship with wild species.

The book reflects on our dependence on various species and explains how human intervention has disrupted the balance of biodiversity. It encourages readers to reduce resource consumption and dependence on fossil fuels to allow wild nature to flourish.

'Asilvestrarse' is the third title in the 'Mentes curiosas, Curiosas Mentes' series, which seeks to transmit knowledge and inspire young minds. The book was presented on April 24, 2025, at the Library of the Royal Botanical Garden and is available in Spanish, Catalan, Galician, and Basque.
