Aruba is dedicated to protecting its rich ecosystem. The Aruba Conservation Foundation launched "Turning the Tide" in 2023. This ambitious environmental project is in collaboration with national and European authorities.
"Turning the Tide" is a pilot project funded by the EU's RESEMBID program. Local partners include the Aruba Conservation Foundation, ScubbleBubbles Foundation, and the University of Aruba. Wageningen University & Research from the Netherlands is also involved.
The program aims to combat habitat loss and repair damage from erosion and human impacts. Canals were dug to improve water flow in mangroves. Artificial systems were installed to help coral regrowth in protected areas.
Aruba's coasts are vital for nesting sea turtles. "Turning the Tide" protects these animals and the marine ecosystem. This project also restores mangrove forests and installs artificial systems for coral growth.
The project includes scientific monitoring and community outreach. The documentary "Turning the Tide" highlights the importance of conservation. It showcases the beauty and fragility of Aruba's ecosystems.
The "Turning the Tide" project concludes in April 2025. Monitoring and restoration efforts continue through the Aruba Conservation Foundation. This ensures long-term environmental protection for future generations.
