An animal charity has released a heartwarming video of a rehabilitated buck returning to the wild after recovering from injuries sustained in a car crash. The buck was rescued and taken to the RSPCA centre in East Winch, King's Lynn, two weeks ago.
Upon arrival, the buck was confused, temporarily blind, and had superficial wounds on his hind legs. After a few days of indoor care, his wounds began to heal, and he was moved to an outdoor area to continue his recovery.
The buck made a swift recovery and was released back into his natural habitat last weekend. The video captured by the RSPCA team shows the buck sprinting into a nearby wood, a testament to his successful rehabilitation. The RSPCA spokesman expressed the team's joy in seeing him return to where he belongs.
The RSPCA highlights the danger deer face on roads, noting that over 74,000 deer-vehicle collisions occur annually in the UK, many of which are fatal. The East Winch centre is hosting a spring market to raise funds for the wildlife in their care.
