A Gloucester woman has been banned from owning animals after her chow chow, Grizzly, suffered a severe, untreated wound. Patrycja Magdalena Handzlik, 34, was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to Grizzly, who had to be euthanized due to the severity of his condition. The RSPCA investigated after Grizzly was found with exposed bones and rotting tissue on his paw. Handzlik admitted the issue had persisted for at least a week, during which she only administered human antibiotics and no pain relief. A vet stated that the dog had likely been suffering for several weeks. The vet described the "horrendous" condition of Grizzly's paw, noting exposed bones, necrotic tissue, and a foul odor. The vet believed the issue was linked to a previous paw problem in August 2023, for which Handzlik did not seek treatment. In addition to the ban, which cannot be appealed for three years, Handzlik was ordered to pay £300 in costs. The RSPCA emphasized the importance of providing proper veterinary care and seeking help when struggling to care for an animal.
